The Federation of the Caucasian Associations in Turkey (Kaffed) organized a series of activities to inform the public, political parties and civil society organizations about the Circassian Genocide and Exile and the Circassians' demands for justice. Mr. Abdullah Gül (the President of the Republic of Turkey), Mr. Cemil Çiçek (the Speaker of the Parliament), Mr. R. Tayyip Erdoğan (the Prime Minister), Mr. Sadık Yakut (The Vice Speaker of the Parliament), Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu (the President of the Republican Peoples Party, CHP), The Executive Committee of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Prof.Dr. Mustafa Kamalak (the President of the Felicity Party, SP) and a number of cicil socity organizations including Mr. M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu (the President of UCCET/TOBB), Mr. Kani Beko (the President of the CPTUT/DISK), Ms. Sibel Güneş (the Secretary General of TJA/TGC), and Prof.Dr. Selçuk Erez (the President of ID/ITO), issued messages to the Circassians people and to the Federation of the Caucasian Association to express their feelings for the tragedy of the Circassians. They all stated that they share the sorrow of the Circassian people, and support the Circassians' struggle to protect and to develop their identity, culture, and language.
Mr. R. Tayyip Erdoğan, the Prime Minister, stated that the period of denial and assimilation in Turkey is now over, and the state has taken measures to guarantee the right to speak, to learn and to teach the mother tongues of all citizens in Turkey.
Mr. Sadık Yakut (The Vice Speaker of the Parliament) made a speech at the Parliament on May 21, 2014, and referred to the tragedy of the Circassians as "genocide". The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Prof.Dr. Mustafa Kamalak (the President of the Felicity Party, SP) and Mr. M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu (the President of UCCET/TOBB, the largest organization of business people in Turkey) also explicitly used the concepts of "genocide" and "exile" to define the crimes committed against the Circassian people in the 19th century.
